A Jew in America – Torn Identity offers a deep, multi-layered exploration of the evolution of American Jewish identity from the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 to the present day.

Drawing on decades of history, the series unpacks the complex connections, ideological tensions, and shifting dynamics that have shaped the relationship between the American Jewish community—the largest and most influential outside Israel—and the Jewish state. It examines questions of loyalty, cultural identity, and political engagement, while confronting contemporary challenges such as polarization, generational divides, and the global rise in antisemitism.

Through rare archival footage, in-depth interviews with leading historians, journalists, activists, and public figures from both Israel and the United States, as well as personal testimonies from American Jews across the political and religious spectrum, the series presents a nuanced portrait of a community navigating its place in a rapidly changing world.

Timely and relevant, the series premiered to critical acclaim at the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival in December 2024 and began airing on HOT 8 in Israel in January 2025, sparking thoughtful discussions about Jewish life in America and its enduring, sometimes turbulent, bond with Israel.
