In a not-so-distant future, the orbital colony known as Paradyzja is hailed as a shining utopia—a glittering space station where society is said to have perfected itself. But when Earth novelist Rinah Devi arrives under the pretext of writing a travel piece, he quickly realizes that Paradise’s glow hides a darker truth.
Every movement and word is closely monitored. The authorities enforce absurd rules with smiling, Orwellian precision, and conversations are carefully watched for dissent. Rinah soon befriends a group of locals who speak in “Koalang,” a secret coded language created to evade the ever-present surveillance.
As he delves deeper into the heart of Paradyzja, Rinah encounters paranoid officials, twisted propaganda broadcasts, and the strange, darkly humorous realities of life under constant watch. What begins as a simple assignment turns into a tense game of cat and mouse, as Rinah uncovers layer after layer of deception.
At stake is not just the truth about Paradyzja—but hope for the millions who live under its illusion. Bold, sharp, and satirical, Paradyzja is a sci-fi dramedy about the thin, terrifying line between utopia and dystopia.

Janusz A. Zajdel was a Polish science fiction writer and physicist, known as a pioneer of social sci-fi in Eastern Europe. Writing under communist censorship, he used dystopian settings to explore themes of surveillance, control, and the illusion of freedom.
His most acclaimed novels include Limes Inferior and Paradyzja, both sharp critiques of authoritarianism disguised as utopia. Since 1985, the annual Janusz A. Zajdel Award honors his legacy as one of Poland’s most influential sci-fi voices.
