Perfect is an intimate and deeply human documentary by Assaf Greenbaum, who has lived with a paralyzed hand and leg since a childhood injury at the age of five. Through Assaf’s own story and those of six other remarkable individuals, the film offers an unfiltered look into the lives of people living with disabilities, sharing their experiences with extraordinary honesty and emotional depth.
The documentary takes viewers on a journey from the life-altering moment of injury, through long and grueling hospital stays, the slow and often painful recovery process, and the ongoing work of accepting and adapting to a new reality that was never chosen. Along the way, it does not shy away from showing setbacks, frustrations, and the resilience required to keep moving forward.
Balancing humor and tenderness, Perfect also opens a rare and touching window into the participants’ romantic and sexual lives—how they navigate dating, intimacy, and the search for love while facing societal perceptions and personal insecurities.
In its final act, the film turns the lens on the wider social context, confronting how society often fails to truly understand or integrate people with disabilities. It examines well-intentioned but misguided forms of “help,” the persistent lack of equal opportunities, and the subtle ways in which exclusion is perpetuated.
Perfect is both a celebration of resilience and a call for empathy, challenging audiences to see beyond disability and recognize the full humanity, desires, and dignity of those whose lives are too often defined by stereotypes rather than their own voices.
